Sea Sports Camp 2008

Sea Sports Camp was AwESoMeeeeee !!!

The camp finally started with much anticipation since signing up during exam period. I was actually the first to sign up leh ! Then I roped in Douglas, Liping + Zhi Qiang, Ee Ching, Weiling + Peifen, 7 of us, which made up like 1/3 of the participants le haha.
Sea Sports Camp was organised by NTU Sports Club, where participants will be treated to an extravagant of Sea Sports like Diving, WindSurf, Jet Ski, Banana Boat, WakeBoard, Sailing, Life Guard and Dragon Boating. Hmm it has been quite a pity that I din manage to go Sports Camp last year, but I guess this is the closes I can to know more bt NTU Sports Club.

Lets recap day by day haha.

Day 1

All of us met at Sembawang MRT station on the early Wednesday morning 8am, after which we "Booked In" to our bunks in Sembawang Sea Sports Club (Reminds me of my NCC days).

The first activity to take place was Diving@Safra Bukit Merah. Woa I got to try how to wear a Diver's BCD (Body Control Device), and breathing through the device leh. Its really quite interesting lor, now I'm REALLY MOVIVATED to go DIVING COURSE next sem le. It was basic introductory to diving cos we cant go sea, but it was still cool as a first activity cos everyone is in swim wear and WeT Le !!!

Well we "Pull Troops" back to Sembawang Sea Sports Club after that, had lunch, and went for my next activity, WindSurfing. Although rain came soon and reached "Cat 1", the GLs and Sports Club Main Commers were there to entertain us with Ice Breakers. YESH !!! Finally can learn new games and forfeit for Foot 08 and DOC Orientation !!!

I was very happy to learn new games and refresh games like Frog Frog, Gougles, Who What Huh, Ti Ti Ti, Tuki Tuki, 7-up, Whos the Idiot etc. I also learnt new forfeit ! The Chicken Dance haha, great man !

Rain stopped and we continued. Well WindSurfing wasnt as easy as I tot ! When it was my turn to try, I kept falling into the water cos quite hard to balance. But I manage to stay afloat for a couple of time, haha as u can see in the picture ! Zai One ok !

Half time, my group "Stussy" changed over with the other group to try the Jet Ski and Banana Boat. Haha both these activities I nv try before lor ... Suay Gu. Jet Ski was fast man, but I did some wrong PR cos I address the driver "Uncle" ... sian then the ride was like shorter than the rest lor ! Not fair he gives more time to girls ~~~boo~~~sexist.

Anyway Banana Boat was surprizing thou. I mean ... whats so fun bt sitting on a Banana that moves on Water Ride dude? But it was fast !!! With its streamline body shape and speedboat pulling, it was very exciting when it makes it turn and also ... when it capsizes. Heng I nv wear my spects.

Day 1 almost ... yesh it almost ended, until the GLs Winston and Constant told us that there will be night games, yea hey more new games. First one was like a telematch, where we have to clear challenges like Blowing Burst a Balloon, Turn 5 Rounds and kick our slippers for teammates to catch, Pass Ping Pong Balls using spoons in our mouths and Eating bread hung up in the air. Hey I manage to lift up my fren Douglas leh !!! 70 kg ok no kidding

*Haha joking !!! joking only !!! I still want to sit his Hyundai Matrix one ok haha.

There was also waterbomb battership, wah I also nv play before lor. Both teams will sit strategically back facing each other with a tarpaulin between them, so both teams dunno where the other team sat. Then each team will start throwing water bomb, and kill the other team if the bomb hits. As uaual, everyone is wet lor.

The day ended after that, and we took HOT WATER SHOWERS and SLEPT IN AIR-CON BUNKS. Wah this is wonderful man, Luxurious Camp sia.

The food is good too !!! (Welfare Liping *hee hee heeeee)

Day 2

Revelly@0800 hrs, we had NASI LEMAK (Wah their food is really good) before we went to do the BEST ACCLAIMED activity of this whole camp, the WAKEBOARDING !!!

Sitting on the speed boat out to sea was alr a fantastic event alr. Its the second time I have sat in a boat since ORD from Pawai, and I totally enjoyed the sea breeze and scenery. The boat reaches around Sembawang Park, before we commenced the activity. Wah the sun was Blazing lor, heng got Ee Ching's SunBlock if not we die.

Haha no need to say the rest lar hor, just say myself. I am a TaLeNt lor !!! Why? Cos I'm able to do it successfully soon after, and did the 1-hand stun with Jasmine Pose leh. Of cos lar also drank some salt water, not bad can cool down body ... as if lor, the sea water there so dirty haha. Wakeboarding is really something different leh, in a sense that the rider must be really relax and just hold on to the handle and let the speedboat pull u along. The legs also have to loosen so that it can be sensitive to adjust in accordance to the waves.

It was change over after lunch, and we did Sailing !!!

Sailing was another sea acvitity that I wanted to try long ago, finally got the chance man ! It was rather simpler as all we have to do is to sit inside the mini boat and control the sail and direction. I guess that was the hard part as I dunno all the terms and hand coordinations~~~hah but I know that Starboard is Right and Port is Left thou.

Dinner was BBQ !!! Wa the planning committee really have good plan sia, it was great for mingling and chill out lor. The best food was non other than Marsh Mellow again ! haha but I guess it was the company which made the food taste great.

Well side track story here

There was someone in this camp which I did not notice in the first place until someone pointed out to me. She wasnt that normal pretty gal that you would find, but she reminds me strongly of Someone in JC. Well it was quite something long ago, but that Someone's Charisma and Cheerfulness still vividly stays in my mind. Of cos when I say like that it means that I really admire that Someone, of her Character and Sunny personality (Rare Gem sia~~~). Well seeing a similar person like that brings back memories I guess. Haha dun tell me Sports Club attracts such ppl in it, not bad not bad. Anyway I got take a picture with her thou (Private), haha got chance must get to know her too ar.

Anyway JUST for interest sake, she is someone in the grp picture.

Eh hey Night Time rite, we went over to the Bar for some draft beer and games. There was this very interesting Maths Game where 4 cards will be placed on the table, and we have to use maths operations to equal the 4 cards to 24. Haha I this Chinese Major beat Pei Fen the Maths Major lor.

Day 3

The day started at 7am for me although the time to wakey was 8am, cos I wanted to take picture of sun rise mar. ALAS ! It rained heavily at 7 am, and when I woke up at 0715 it was just pouring rain with the hidden sun. Well it was another nice feeling thou.

Today is the last day, and for the morning part we did some introductory life guarding skills, such as using the life boat to rescue, throwing ropes and to help a choking person,. Quite easy and fun lar just to get ourselves wet and basic knowledge to handle drowning situations. Can consider getting a cert man then can work as life guard, good bucks ok.

We left Sembawang Sea Sports club to Kallang Water Sports Club around noon, and it was bye bye to our barracks for the 2 days le.

Final activity for the Sea Sports Camp is non other than what Weiling is made up of, Dragon Boat !!! OK ... Dragon Boat doesnt interest me man ... whats so fun bt rowing a boat with a wooden plank? Well I was wrong again, Dragon Boating was fun man !!! There was a part where we sat face to face with our partner, on the edge of the Dragon Boat, and we rock the boat. That was Super Exciting man ! Then the paddling was fun sia, wat Stark 30, Maintain 20. Its all bout team coordination and effort.

JUST when I tot that I was a talent ... that Weiling told me that my strokes were wrong ... Wah lao cant she just LIE and said that I am super cool or something? I might not even do Dragon Boating again rite? Haha joking lar I always like to know my mistakes.

Well after Dragon Boating, it was 4pm, time to break camp le.
~~~Lots and lots of photo taking~~~
I had my first time ... gg to eat MOS burger with Foot Comm + ZhiQiang + Peifen. Not bad sia the food, I was surprized. Sua Gu hor.
After thoughts
I am Very Very Very happy to join this camp !!! It has always been a wish of mine to try these Sea Sports activities such as wakeboarding and windsurfing but nv got a chance to. Sea Sports Camp really grant my wish at a go man.
The camp was well planned and coordinated in my opinion, food good, good bunks, activities fun. I give it a 9/10 rating man, the last point is not given as I did not really got to know ppl from Ripcurl and another grp. Sports Club culture was also something I gotta experience alittle, very spontaneous and sunny side of them.
It was another good memories for Foot Comm as this was yet another Foot Comm Bonding session well spent. As Foot 08 approaches, so does the end of our committee. So no one knows how it will be in the future, but as long as we cherish what we have now, I think I'm contented. Next one will be our Stong Trip which commences on the 24th May 2008, I'm looking forward to it. Just so sad that Jasmine cant join us again.
This is the first time I actually got my frens down to join the camp with me !!! I'm am very glad that Douglas and Ee Ching was so nice to come with me after I told them. Thinking back bt Foot 07, and many other camps I have joined, I joined alone. Haha its quite hard to find ppl to join with me sia, maybe its just me hor.
There is one thing which I am always very consious of, that is, my PR skills. I seriously think I lack it man ... I find it difficult to start conversation with new ppl and to maintain it. Well this time round it was ok cos got frens with me, but I seriously wish that I can learn PR skills fast, I really want to get to know ppl well and make frens.
Back to the same old topic ... why did I joined this camp and always looking for other camps/activities to join. Well its actually an aim of mine to catch up with that someone that I know in JC, whether in her enthusiastic level or drive. Although that was a motivation in me, I am glad to say that I actually does enjoy such events which challenge my physical and mental.
Another reason is that, I really have the concious that life is very short. Every good thing in this earth comes to an end sooner or later, and there is no way one can predict or stop it from happening. So this is a way to make my life alittle more fulfilling, and to cherish every single moment of it, to its very last drop. How nice it will be when I look back and say, "Yesh, I have accomplish all these when I was young"
少年时刻如春酿,刻刻应尽意饮尽
春过人散事境迁,回味夏季晚来风
Being Young is like Summer, enjoy it to its fullest, and reminisic about it when gentle breeze blows in Spring (I anyhow com
Father's Day 2008
This must be the earliest Father's Day celebration this year.
So qiao today my whole family is having our day off. I just declared Jobless again, my parents are on off, my brother holidays, and my sister....I dunno leh, Chao keng sch ? haha joking.
The day started off early with some HK drama at home, and lunch was easily settled by my dad of Char Siew Fried Rice. Ah ha after eating lunch .... with a nice weather .... I really nearly doze off and want to call off the planned schedule.
AND SO ! the Father's Day 2008 schedule started off at 1430hrs, and we make our way to Lido cinema to watch Indiana Jones. Wat a Crap ! I nearly feel asleep sia. The plot is so twisting and so complicated. I dunno wat they talking ... wat US army, wat Diamond Skull, then finally Alien ... Wah biang I need Brainless Movies one lor ... dun make me think ... THUMBS DOWN*
Forget that movie, for the main highlight of the day, is the dinner treat to my dad ! After numerous influence by Foot Comm, I decide to bring my dad to Sun With Moon @ Borders for a Japanese Food Feast. Haha order wise it was similar to wat I ate with Foot Comm at CHIJMS that time. There was the Sushi appetizer, followed by Sukiyaki (Beef with hot soup)
After appetizers there was main course. I order Nagahama Ramen, a sequel to Hokkaido Ramen which I ate previously. I swear I wun order Ramen again man it taste like Nissin 出前一丁. I will eat Unagi Kodon (Eel Rice) next time man, my dad's favourite lor.
Well my dad was the smartest lar eat Unagi Kodon, and my mom ate some Porky Rice, my bro ate Beef Udon and my Sis Tempura Udon. Overall not bad, just that I dun understand why the food is overly sweet and salty.
The day ended at 9pm as we took bus 7 back home. On e way back it was some chatting and I discussed with them about my plans that I mentioned on e previous post, just as a topic. Haha although its a bit early to celebrate Father's Day, but considering that I will be busy for coming weekend and other unexpected happenings, might as well do it today rite, haha at the whole family is around.
Haven get to use my Nikon D40 to take family photo yet cos no good background today. NVM another time then. Haha the meal was quite ex thou, but I paid OK !!! and that brings me to my unpaid wages by somebody .... wonder when will I get the money .... this is so dampening.
Well ODAC Local Seniors Camp just ended, so Monday is a well deserved rest for me in a sense. Overall Logistics was quite ok, except for my blunder of misplacing the Store Keys at one point of time due to talking and I am terribly sorry about it.
I will ensure that this will be the last time I lose sight of my keys.
NTU Campus Interview 2008
This week was wonderful !!!
Immediately after a week of rest, I was back in action this week with a job in NTU Campus Interview 2008 as a Student Assistant. My work is mainly as a AVA support crew, but I also helped out with moving stuffs, handling Kiosks, Lunch Distribution and making PA Announcements !!!
Little bit of background : NTU Campus Interview 2008 is a yearly event held by the NTU Career Development Office, for Post-Graduates to send in their resume and come for interviews. There are lots and lots of companies invited, such as Outward Bound Singapore, Citibank, UOB etc. The best part is that there are presentations by the companies to Post - Graduates to tell them more about the company's job scope. Well I was particularly impressed by a lady named Ms Sarah from Double Lion Company. So nice to talk to haha !
My main job was to be the AVA crew, so I got alot of chances to listen to the presentations and talk to the presenters from various companies !!! Haha well well ... my fav presentations were Pico Art International and Outward Bound Singapore, cos after these 2 presentations I COULD ALMOST SEE MY CAREER PATH.
Pico Art is a event organisation company, and is in charge of events like National Day Parade, and other mega events. Hey its so dynamic and happening lor !!! Then Outward Bound Singapore no need to say, being a instructor will bring adventure to everyday life ! Hmm I dunno why, but my mind churns out a Career Path IMMEDIATELY.
Sign 3 years Outward Bound Bond, then apply Pico Art or other event organising company and start my career in a corporate world. Outward Bound is so attractive lor !!! Good pay, plus lots of leaves and expeditions !!! Of cos there are lots of considerations, but I have 3 years to think anyway haha.
Well the job was certainly fun. First there was our supervisor Ms Bibi and Ms Chong, both of them are real nice lady. Haha Ms Bibi treats us breakfast every morning, felt so 不好意思 leh. Ms Chong is a wonderful Career Guidance Coach, her Colour Personality Test makes me knows myself better.
Colleagues wise ar .... wat can I say, super Multi-Nationality lar. There's Belina + Freddy from Indonesia, Grace from Vietnam, Chee Shing from Malaysia, Akusha from India, Kenneath + Nuda + Me from Singapore !!! It was very fun interacting with them, and learning how to say hi in Vietnam "Ba Kuai Hong !" There was the 4 days of Bento lunch session with them as well.
All in all, this job assignment is simply outstanding !!! Not only are the supervisors and technician Uncle Wong super friendly, the job itself is manageable. The most important thing that I got from this experience is a new found confident in searching for a career path and a peek into the corporate world.
Wah I am really a Lucky Chap sia, how come I got a chance to land in such a good job one ???!!!
Anyway, back to reality.
Today was results day man. I tried logging in but I cant even get into NTU website, and my work is rather early so I pushed viewing of results to a later time. Eventually that Douglas kept pestering me for my Marketing MB 103 result and I log on using his handphone GPRS.
Not bad !!! I got an A for it !!! Its my first A since 'O' Level !!!
Heng ar if not I dunno how to face Douglas and Weiling whom I talked so much marketing concepts to them haha. Wah my grp Ruo Gu, Joan, Agnes also got A sia !!! Isit that Marketing is easy ? or is it Tunez Seeders is just great ? Yea we were just GREAT !!!
The rest of the subs were ok with B- and B+. Wah but I also got to taste how it feels to "tabao" a subject. Its that toopid HC 203 Tang and Song Poetry. AhhhhHHHHH !!! It makes me hate Zh**g Hu* even more !!! His stupid Mini-Tests is so hard !!! I shd have copied and wun end up in this state lor. NVM lar I very optimistic one, I rather indulge in my Marketing grades than feel sad over this. Just work harder lor, I will get a chance to interact with Yr 1s when I retake ar.
So my Year 1 Sem 2 Results
HC 203 F Arghhhhh !!!! I want to kill that Prof !!!
HC 205 B-
HC 214 B+
HT 102 B+
MB 103 A Yesh I am so HaPpY !!!
Die I am getting overly optimistic ....... haha.
