ODAC Trip 7 : Foot 08 Sungei Yong Reccee (Failed Attempt)

Last Sat 26/01/2008 was another ODAC reccee day for FOOT '08. Its 3 weeks into the term and I can feel the work level getting higher in sch. Well well but what other thing is there on Earth is more important than getting to walk unexplored terrains rite.

Anyway this time round we went Sungei Yong that is located at Kluang.

We met at Kranji the usual MRT, took 170 to custom, continued to Larkin Bus Terminal to take a bus (Standard Movement in Malaysia alr)

We took a RM 7.50 bus from Larkin Bus Terminal, then we reached Kluang at 1230 hrs after a 2 hours ride. We took a quick bite @ Mac, before taking taxis to Sungei Yong. The ride took another 40 mins or so and it cost RM30 to and RM35 fro. I could sense that Mike was quite worried about the schedule because the climb will take 3 hours.

We reached the start of the Palm plantation where the Taxis could not enter, so we have to walk a distance of 7km according to the Taxi uncles. It was 1400 then, quite off schedule. I did a quick calculation and have a feeling that today wun be a smooth day, but I hope for the best.

After entering the plantation, we moved under the guidance of Chee Kiong, the ODAC senior who graduate and came back to help us reccee. However, after walking along the path and making various turns, we still saw no signs of the foot of the waterfall.

Chye Kiat and Chee Kiong took the initiative to run around the various path to make things faster. But it was still to no avail.

The reccee took 5 hrs in total till 1830 hrs, but Sungei Yong was still not to be found. There's an Angler who passed by and said that Sungei Yong shd be at the other side, so I guess next time ba.

The return trip was an adventure of its own. The bus took an hour more than the journey there and we reached customs at 1200+++. HENG HENG ar there was a last bus to Jurong East but I still spent 7 bucks to take cab from Jurong East to Clementi. How ex man.

Anyway this trip was so adventurous on its own and I got reminded of my many reccee that I made to find fishing spots. Haha I got lost alot of times of course.

Hmm I can REALLY feel the ODAC spirit is rooting in me after so many activities. Oh yar I manned booth on thursday !!! Too bad I forgot to take pictures. I'm glad that lots of Chinese frens are interested in ODAC trips, maybe I can lead one next time.

But first I must learn more from Mike, Yonghan and especially Weihan these seniors who really knows alot. The way they plan, organise, react, and flexibility, so many things that can learn lor. Haha I feel quite lost most of the time but then I tried my best to ask and see what they do ba.

Cheers

Shark Fin Dinner @ My House

Take a look at this !!! A New Liquor for my Collection !!!

Its a wonderful Chocolate + Milk Liquor that Ri Dong Mom's treated us to drink a few years back, and I couldn't forget that great taste since.

So Thankful to Yunling who helped me get it all the way from the Airport.

Well looks like it'll be a great Liquor for Fun event next time. Wonder who will be the Lucky Group

Anyway, yest the JC gang of frens came over to my house for dinner. Haha well cos of space constraints I can only invite a limited number of ppl, consisting of Sky, Mei Hui, Yunling, Alan and Eileen Zhang. Its the usual Shark Fin Soup again, plus great Salads, Chicken Wings, Pork Ribs. My parents are great man they more enthu than me to invite them up for dinner.
Eh I too lazy to take picture ..... abit wasted.

Nvm that. Haha yest there was a SUPER INTERESTING OBSERVATION.

Well actually beforehand my Parents have told me to tell them not to buy anything when they come for dinner.

Haha then I told my parents I will not say anything and observe instead.

Cos I wanna see whether they will bring anything up. Actually there have been a few instances of family frens and other ppl coming up for dinner, and what they brought for dinner are 2 bunches of Bananas ( Their 2 hands). Then I felt that its a bit the impolite lor. I would certainly not do such a thing. I think its a form of politeness and respect for the Host.

But then of cos I dun Giam such things lar, but if they bring I will be MORE happy that my frens are of same frequency. I guess its the Chinese Culture Spirit that I am looking for.

Yea and Sky they all nv disappoint me, they got me lots of fruits and Ferrero Rocher.

Eh my Mom asked me today why I nv cut the fruits for them after dinner.....haha PS PS everyone ............ I forgot.

Interesting Thoughts to Ponder

Lets start off this post with some pictures I took at West Coast during my jogging session today. Today was great weather with great winds, greyish clouds and a peaceful sea.
Of cos, looking at such view reminds me of my great days on Pawai again.....hai......
Its so near yet so far.... so I can only stop my memories from overflowing by taking pictures of the familiar Ferry Terminal and the direction where my memories was awaken.

Life is Really a Non Stopping Wheel.

How I wish that I have a ability to transport to any era where my presence once was.
Breaking all Past, Present, Future, Time, Space, Forms or Incarnations if there is a Soul.

It might be a state of Divinity

Ok end of recap.

Haha there's 2 encounters that happened to me in a month which, in a way, spurs my thoughts to think about what type of Worldliness that I should have.

The first event goes like this. I was walking out of the Polyclinic after seeing the doctor about my leg wound (sian it still haven heal, 6 mths alr), then there was this Auntie who called to me in the stairways. She explained to me in a politely manner that she needs to collect medicine from the Poly but she is short of 4 dollars, and asked me to help.

So I did, and gave her 6 dollars instead cos I got no change.

Ok thats one event.

The second event goes like that. Today morning I was walking to the MRT station to go to my parent's hawker to help out as usual, then there was this Indian, in a laborer's outfit, calling out to me. He explained to me that his work permit expired and he needs to get back to Malaysia to renew it, but he did not have enough cash for the transport, so he asked me to help him by giving him 2 or 3 dollars for the transport.

So I did, and gave him 5 dollars instead, cos I tot just in case not enough.

ok thats the second event.

ACTUALLY I dun wan to blog bt it one lar later ppl say I bragger (haha no lar)

Its the aftermath which interest me when I told my Parents which prompt me to blog. First time round both of them said it was a good thing to do, but the second time round my Mom said it might be a cheat and told me not to be taken in next time. My Dad did not agree though, he still thought it was a good thing to do.

Haha then I thought bt it. Actually Humans dun need to complicate so many things in Life hor. Its not like tens or hundred of dollars and I'm sure I know whether they are really cheats. Say if Sway Sway (Yes I am in super sway luck nowadays) I ran into such trouble I would hope that some Samaritans will help me sia.

Anyway I felt super good after doing so. Ok lar after my Mom said those I was like sian diao. HahaAnyway, the Indian Man was quite interesting. Cos he is a Christian, so he keep saying "God Bless You God Bless You", and that he was praying to God to help him.

Ok looks like I'm the chosen one this time.

Hmm I find it very good that Humans have religion from this.
Its the Root of All Hope.

Ok I removed some Undesirable comments since she might chance upon it. Haha

Oh yar must give credits to Chinese Division ppl for organising Angel and Mortal game cos its so darn fun I had so much fun writing to my Mortal and receiving back letters. Haha great chance to get to know SOMEONE..........

Ok I am talking Rubbish, everything u see is fake so forget them~~~~(haha most confusing post ever)

ODAC Trip 6 : Foot 08 Pelepah Reccee

Yea hey first week of school only and I spent 1 whole Saturday in the outdoors!!!

Its part of the FOOT 08 reccee trip, and its back to Pelepah in Kota Tinggi, Johor Bahru.

Hmm well cos I went before, so there's nothing much to elaborate on, but the main reward of this trip is getting to know how to take Public Transport to the venue and Recognizing the different places.

We took SBS Bus 170 from Kranji MRT to Custom, Cleared, Took 170 again to Larkin Bus station.

Then we took a RM3.10 bus ride to Kota Tinggi, which took around an hour, before taking a RM15 cab to Sg.Pelepah. The return trip will cos RM25 cos the cabbies need to travel.

OK the Ultimate Thing that Happened during this trip is that I LOST MY WALLET !!!

Arrrrrrgh !!!!!! No !!!!!!

So sian lor I lost it rite from the start during breakfast when I realize my wallet is gone from my bag......thats so weird ???!!! I suspect that I got pickpocket on the bus ride to Larkin cos I felt that my bag was tucked......

Hmm I lost my NTU Matriculation card ($21) and money enough to buy 50 bowls of wonton mee..... thats so darn sad I scrape and save everyday for spendings on trips. I guess I'm lucky that my Passport, IC, Driving License, Bank Card are not lost ba cos they are separate.

I guess 破财挡灾 ba !!!

But the fact is I lost my wallet......argh !!!!

ODAC Trip 5 : Genting

Please pardon this picture, I was so pissed at the lousy photographer who aimed wrongly and he even touch my lenses !!! Wah lao lor Stupid NOOB !!!

Well just before school opens I went for my 5th ODAC trip, as sequal to Foot '07, Ubin Firelight, Datuk, and Lata Berembun.

This time round is to Genting, and of course we did not trek up with our 75 litre bag, can die one.

We set off on the last day of 2007, reaching Johor Train Terminal around 2300 for our train which then came late for an hour. Haha so we had our countdown at the terminal and even saw fireworks, super cool lor, first time to do countdown, usually every year I will be asleep alr * No Life.

Anyway the train ride was those bed type, so we played some games such as Mobile Mahjong, Bridge, Daidee, and Weiling 99 game. After that is sleeping to prepare for the day event. Well its great to see some non-foot 08 ppl like Zhi Qiang, Jit Hong, Ai Ping, whom I get to know this trip, interesting ppl sia, Liping's *ahem, the coolio eating Machine and Lady Luck.

And how can things not get interesting with our in-house Bully and Like-To-Be-Bullied partner of Qing Yong and Jasmine.

Well we took the cable car up after taking a short bus ride, and 15mins later we were up at Genting. Our first stop is to eat lunch, at some toast shop, before gg into the Theme Park. At there, I finally took all the rides which I dare not and did not took for all the past Genting trips that I went, kindaf crazy sia! The worst was the Space Shot, where u drop down from like 10 stories high, its like a freeze of time for 3 seconds before u can think and even breathe, scary. Eh Douglas is a super dare devil sia, he even fell asleep on the roller coaster rides.

First day was spent mostly in the Theme Park and great foods. At night we went Casino, and that was the first time I went in. Haha well seems like I have paid some entrance fees cos I lost 100 RM on the first night.

After that it was some game at the hotel room, Murderer game came first, before we switch over to Polar Bear which is a far more interesting game that I nv knew. Haha with all the psychology warfare of reverse psychology and reverse reverse psychology, everyone was in a confused state on catching the Polar Bear. Wah Lao Ee Ching and Douglas keep aiming me haha.

Day 2 was spent on KTV, and bowling, since we only started the day at 12pm. Then after that was Casino again. Wah biang paid more entrance fees again, but I manage to win some back from roulette. So overall is -150RM, can consider heng lar, better luck next time.

Day 3 was go home time, haha the time that Jingchu has wish that nv come cos the company was great !!! But nvm lar there is always another chance, say next holiday??? Haha

St John Fishing Trip

Well it has been quite a while since I have been talking and planning on a fishing trip on a off shore island. So here goes on the 2nd last week b4 school reopens with a St John Island Fishing Trip.

The partner for this trip is non other than my VERY supportive brother, who always goes with me to Ulu Ulu places to fish and explore. I must say this time round is the most major of all.

We came to Marina South Pier in the early morning of 0930 hrs on 27 Dec 2007, having bought lunch and brining tons of barang barang. The ferry moves off @ 10am, and the ferry cost S$15 bucks for a to and fro trip.

A interesting point to note is that there is a stop over of 30 mins at Kusu Island for us to Jalan Jalan for a while. So cool!!! I always wanted to see what is on Kusu Island, the famous temple and the quiet beaches and trees around the small island.

We reached St John Island around 11am, and fishing starts on the connector to Lazarus Island, as recommended by fishing forum sources. Haha.....a few hours passed and there were no bites, and its another Angler's Hell where our weights keep Sankoting, and soon we decided to change our spot due to the sun, and I know fishes dun feel at bright sunlight.

We decided to explore Lazarus Island, and reached the legendary clear blur beach. I must say it is really a superb beach with nice sands, water, and no one in sight. We used floats this time round, after being too scared of losing our weights. *Sianz, there was no bites also....I wonder why......isit because its a breakwater?

Anyway, we gave up at Lazarus beach at 5pm and went back to fish at the connector, before preparing for dinner. We had Cup Noodles for dinner, and Cold Chrysanthemum Tea. After that we went to the jetty to fish after night fall came and light became very dimmed.

At the jetty, its another waiting frenzy of a few hours, before my brother go and hooked up innocent looking Angle fish lurking near the jetty looking for food. Well I must say thanks for the first blood which made this trip seems abit better. Before long I also landed a fish, but I dunno what it is, I think its a kind of shark judging by its look, but nvm a fish is a fish. Well just when we decided to turn in for the night, I reeled in a weird creature called Sea Urchin, hope I'm right. Then when I fell asleep my brother reeled in another creature called Eel. So I guess its a miserable 4 catch for this St John trip. All catches were Caught And Release.

Well though I must say the catches were rather disappointing, it did not dampened my enthusiasm for fishing, and I will keep trying to improve my jigs and methods.
The scenery and peacefulness was great , something which I have not enjoyed for such a long time. I also got to enjoy the night view of Singapore Mainland and various landmark such as Singapore Flyer and For Canning Hill.

Next spot I want to go is a kelong, cos its rather disappointing for my brother who did not enjoyed the joy of catching 14 fish in a hour when I first started.

Till then ~~~ Cheers.
